This golden sand beach is situated in Wattala, at the outskirts of Colombo - the capital of Sti Lanka. Wattala is a large suburb of Colombo city in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. There are many villages and towns around Wattala that are inhabited by large sections of the working class. Churches, Buddhist, Hindu temples, mosques, schools of various grades and many private dispensaries are spread throughout the area.
